Founder & CEO
Umme Nusrat Sorna is the Founder and CEO of the Institute of GIS & Remote Sensing (IGRS). With a strong foundation in both academia and industry, she brings deep expertise in remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to her leadership. Throughout her career, she saw a persistent gap between what traditional education teaches and the practical skills the geospatial field actually demands. She founded IGRS to close that gap and to democratize access to high-quality geospatial training, so that learners anywhere, regardless of background, can build real, job-ready expertise. Under her leadership, IGRS offers hands-on programs that take students, researchers, and working professionals from core concepts to applied skills in modern GIS, remote sensing, and spatial data visualization. Her vision is simple: to empower the next generation of geospatial professionals to use spatial technology to solve real-world challenges.
